Leicester cake shop launches the city's first vegan afternoon tea

The first totally vegan afternoon tea in Leicester launched at Cafe Mbriki last month, offering delicious cakes and sandwiches that are completely free from dairy, eggs, and meat products.

The event is put on by award-winning county company The Vegan Cakery.

On their website, The Vegan Cakery says: “Enjoy one of Britain’s finest traditions… The Vegan Cakery style!

“Perfect as a wonderful treat or as a thoughtful gift for a friend or loved one, The Vegan Cakery’s Afternoon Teas provide the elegance and enjoyment of that most quintessential of experiences – but 100% cruelty-free.

“The intention is to provide a real Afternoon Tea ‘experience’, much more than just a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a scone!”

What’s on the menu?

Priced at £25 a head, the event includes afternoon tea favourites including scones with vegan ‘cream’ and preserves, miniature cakes and pastries. Freshly prepared finger sandwiches come with inventive fillings like curried egg-less and rocket, and roasted aubergine and red pepper.

Guests can wash it all down with their choice of freshly brewed leaf and specialist flowering teas.

Tickets

After a successful launch in October, tickets have already sold out for the next event, but there is still availability for Sunday, 18 February.
