Blanche Bakery started out as a pop up a year ago and is now set to get a permanent home in Cardiff after proving to be a huge success with customers.

Amy-Rose Hopkins, 21, and Remed Aran, 24, who started the pop up venture a year ago, supply some of the city’s best-loved independent cafes and shops, including Coffee Barker and Clancy’s.

Now they are looking to launch Cardiff’s first 100% vegan cafe and have earmarked premises near Albany Road in Roath, where they will served their homemade dairy-free and meat-free treats in their new coffee shop and bakery.

All of their products are 100% vegan and soya free, and can also be made gluten free as their aim is to offer food that everyone can enjoy whilst not compromising on taste.

Blanche Bakery’s crowdfunding campaign

Hopkins and Aran have already secured a business loan to help cover costs, but have decided to run a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the final fixtures and fittings to bring the bakery to life.

If the crowdfunding is successful, Blanche Bakery will open this autumn and given the popularity of the vegan eateries and shops that have opened in the city during the last few years, Amy-Rose and Remed hope to fill a gap in the independent coffee shop market.

Speaking to Wales Online, Amy-Rose said:

“This is a huge opportunity, not just for us but for multiple communities in Cardiff. Our coffee shop will be a friendly space with a relaxed atmosphere that anyone can enjoy, be they vegans or not. We were shortlisted for the Best Vegan Cakes title at the 2017 Vegan Awards, and have seen great business success, so we know that we have the products to make people smile. We’re asking people to support us in raising funds so that we can serve our treats and build friendships within the wider community in the city.”

The crowdfunding campaign is running until July 26, with rewards to pledgers including afternoon tea and delicious celebration cakes.
