Asda recalls Syrup Sponge Puddings due to incorrect labelling of milk

Asda is recalling its ‘Syrup Sponge Puddings’ because the ingredients list does not mention milk correctly as an allergen, and is a possible risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

Asda is hoping to recover all the own-brand “Syrup Sponge Puddings” sold as “milk” is not highlighted in bold on the packaging. The desert, which comes as a two-pack, have skimmed milk powder listed in their ingredients. but the supermarket is recalling them because the packs, sold before June and with best before dates between March 16-31, 2017, do not have the ingredient written in bold.

Asda said: “If you have purchased some of the Asda 2 Syrup Sponge Puddings please be aware that this product is not suitable for anyone with a milk allergy. “You may return the packs to your nearest store for a full refund.”

The Food Standards Agency stated that: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead return it to the nearest Asda store for a full refund or call Asda customer relations on 0800 952 0101.”
