ASDA has issued a recall of their Rocky Road Bites amid fears they could cause an allergic reaction to customers due to the undeclared presence of egg.

Rocky Road Bites

The supermarket has urged customers who have bought packs of its ‘Baker’s Selection 20 Mini Rocky Road Bites’ with the best before date of August 4 to return them for a full refund, as some of the packs have been incorrectly packed with Mini Chocolate Brownies and containing egg which is not listed on the package’s ingredients.

A spokesperson for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “This product contains egg, which is not mentioned on the product label, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg, do not eat it. Instead return it to the nearest Asda store for a full refund.”

A spokesman for Asda said:

“It has come to our attention that some of the packs of Asda Baker’s Selection 20 Mini Rocky Road Bites with the best before date of 04 Aug 2016 have been incorrectly packed with Mini Chocolate Brownies and therefore contain egg, which is not declared in the ingredients. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and will ensure this doesn’t happen again. If you would like any further information please contact Asda Customer Relations.”

No other Asda products are believed to be affected by the mix-up. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg, do not eat it. Instead return it to the nearest Asda store for a full refund or call Asda customer relations on 0800 952 0101.
