Each day in the run up to The Allergy and Free From Show we will be presenting one interesting fact about allergies and intolerances. We hope this can both be informative as well as open up a channel for discussion about any of the issues raised.Today’s ‘Fact of the Day’ is a very important start to our discussions: the fact that allergies are dramatically on the increase, particularly in the UK.
According to Allergy UK “in the last decade, the cases of food allergies have doubled and the number of hospitalisations caused by severe allergic reactions has increased seven-fold.” (Source: Allergy UK).
One of the questions raised by this is why allergies are increasing so drastically. Allergy UK offers many possible explanations including increased hygiene, change in diet and environmental factors. Click here to read about this further.
